Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful answers about accounts, goals, privacy, reminders and StashCash Pro.
Getting started
What is StashCash?
StashCash is a private savings planner that helps you divide savings into purposeful sub-accounts, record activity and track progress toward goals. It does not connect to your bank or move real money.
Does StashCash hold or transfer my money?
No. StashCash records the savings activity you enter. Transfers in the app reorganise your records; they do not initiate transactions with a financial institution.
Do I need to create an account?
No online StashCash account is required. Your savings plan is stored locally on your device.
Accounts and saving
What is a Smart Account?
A Smart Account receives a percentage of each Smart Deposit. You choose how your Smart Accounts share deposits, and StashCash calculates the split.
What is a Manual Account?
A Manual Account is updated directly by recording a deposit, withdrawal or transfer. It does not automatically receive part of a Smart Deposit.
How many accounts can I create?
Free users can create up to three active Smart or Manual accounts. StashCash Pro supports up to 50 active accounts.
Can I move money between accounts?
You can record a transfer between StashCash accounts. The transaction history shows the amount leaving one account and entering the other, but no real bank transfer occurs.
What happens when I delete an account?
Deleted accounts no longer appear as active savings accounts, while their historical references can remain available where needed to keep your transaction history understandable.
Goals and notifications
Can free users set savings goals?
Yes. Goals are available in the free version, along with the master Goal Alerts setting.
When are goal milestone alerts sent?
Goal alerts can be triggered at 25%, 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% completion. A milestone alert is normally scheduled two hours after the milestone is crossed. Overnight triggers are postponed until 7:00 am, and only the highest pending milestone is kept.
What is the Monday encouragement reminder?
When Goal Alerts are enabled, StashCash can select one eligible goal and encourage progress toward its next milestone on Monday at 9:00 am. If Goal Alerts are disabled, the weekly notification becomes a general reminder to record savings transfers.
What is Payday Sync?
Payday Sync is a Pro feature that lets you schedule a general reminder around a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payday. Payday reminders do not expose account names or balances.
What does Privacy Shield do?
Privacy Shield removes sensitive monetary details from supported goal notifications. It does not alter Payday reminders because those reminders do not include account-specific financial information.
Privacy and preferences
Where is my data stored?
Your StashCash accounts, balances, goals and transaction records are stored locally on your device. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.
Does StashCash see my FaceID data?
No. FaceID authentication is handled by Apple and your device. StashCash receives only whether authentication succeeded.
Can I change the currency?
You can choose the currency symbol used throughout the app. This changes how amounts are displayed; it does not perform currency conversion.
Can I change the date format?
Yes. Your selected date layout is applied to transaction dates throughout StashCash.
Can I export my data?
Yes. StashCash can create a JSON export containing your accounts and transaction history. You control where the exported file is stored or shared.
StashCash Pro
What is included with Pro?
Pro includes up to 50 accounts, all 60 account colours, the complete 90-icon library, custom Payday Sync and a Home Screen widget showing one selected account.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. StashCash Pro is intended as a one-off lifetime purchase, with no recurring subscription fee.
How does the Home Screen widget work?
Pro users can select one active account in StashCash Settings. The horizontal widget displays that account’s icon, name, formatted balance and goal progress.
